On 11th August Karen and David started off from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle to drive overland to its sister bridge the Sydney Harbour Bridge in a 1964 sports car, a Triumph TR4 hired from TR Enterprises.
They began by taking the ferry to Norway and then the route will take them through Europe into Iran, Pakistan and India and then into the highest mountains in the world through Nepal and Tibet. From there they dropped down into China, Laos, Thailand and Indonesia before getting a boat from East Timor to Darwin. Next were thousands of miles through Australia passing through Newcastle, New South Wales and then to Sydney.
They were raising money for SOS Children’s Villages who give orphaned and abandoned children a family, home and future.
They also have SOS Children’s Villages in many of the countries we will pass through, some of which we hope to visit. See www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk
